Murder, a missing person, romance, and plenty of suspense keep the pages turning in this delightful cozy mystery. A well-rounded cast of characters makes for an interesting dynamic in a charming small town facing unwanted development.

When mystery author Tammy Wright leaves behind NYC to return to her hometown to assist Aunt Clara with her ceramic shop, Tammy’s fictional world takes a back seat to the actual crimes in Braddock. Having expected a quiet retreat from the city and time to relax and work on her next book, she stumbles upon a body in her aunt’s shop and shortly after, Clara goes missing. Tammy and her old school friend, Deputy Zeke Peters, have their suspicions about the realtors who have been trying to coerce Clara into selling her property.

The interaction between supporting characters, including the inevitable gossip in a small community, adds a layer of lightness to the abduction and murder plot as does the friendship and growing romance between Tammy and Zeke. Author Donna Clancy’s description of Clara’s cabin and cottage, and the old O’Grady mansion provide a sharp contrast to the city life Tammy has experienced the last several years.

Kilned at the Ceramic Shop has all the elements of an enjoyable cozy mystery. If you are a cozy fan, you’ll want to add this book to your reading list!
